Each year our Rotary Club is entrusted by the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation to select a local non-profit partner for a service project and $10,000 cash grant.
The Community Services Committee is accepting proposals for consideration for the next Weinberg Friends Project. The criteria are as follows:
Introduction
On Saturday, August 27, 2011, the Rotary Club of Kahului will once again perform a community service activity in collaboration with a selected 501c3 public charity serving central Maui's poor and needy. We solicit proposals from Maui-based nonprofit agencies for a community service project that would productively involve at least 25 adult Rotarians and can be substantially completed on that date.
Interested 501c3 agencies should provide a written narrative describing the proposed project along with a justification of how it addresses the needs of Maui's "poor and needy" (a Weinberg Foundation requirement). Possibilities for projects are endless, but examples may include paint-up/fix-up type projects, grounds maintenance, special events, etc. The selected nonprofit will also be awarded a check in the amount of $10,000 from the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation to further the mission of the agency.
